Don’t Need It? Donate It!

Making these decisions can be tough at times, but it is worth the effort. When you make good decisions and are completely honest with yourself about your belongings, you will find two amazing things will happen:

1) You will have more space in your space. By letting go of items that you do not need, you will free up more space in your closet or playroom and thus, create less clutter and more storage. The less stuff you have, the less you have to manage.  Clean up will be quicker and finding things will be faster since you will have less to look through.  It’s OK to have empty space! I find that people think that if they have shelves, then they must all be filled.  I call this extra space “room to grow,” and we all need it. So don’t be afraid of empty space.

2) When you let go of items, donate them to people in need. There are a multitude of charities you can donate to, but I suggest the Salvation Army.  They are a fabulous organization that provides the basics (clothing, shelter) to people in need who would otherwise go without. Giving to others is the feel good part of getting organized.  You won’t feel bad about parting with your unwanted items if you know that they are going to be helping others who really need them.  It is nice to know that our surplus can make a difference in the lives of other people.

Happy Donating!
