For many of us, resolutions are easy to make, yet hard to implement. Any resolution you make needs a plan in place to follow through on that resolution. So many of our resolutions fall by the way side because we don’t have a true plan in place to make it happen! Don’t fall prey to this when it comes to resolving to get organized in 2008.
The resolution to get organized is a common one for the New Year, and I believe it is a common desire because we have so much stuff! Whatever your organization resolution is for the New Year, I strongly encourage you to put a plan in place to get you closer to your goal. Here are a few examples of plans that can truly make a difference in your home or office organization:
With all the electronic devices we tote around these days, it can be a challenge to locate the chargers, let alone have the items charged when we need them. An uncharged PDA is no use to you. I suggest you use the Power Station. It is a small device that holds up to three electronic devices while they are being charged. The charging cords are concealed so that it has a neat appearance, making it the perfect addition to your home office, or even a kitchen counter. You will never again look for the charger for your PDA or cell phone. Think of the time you will save!

How about a plan for all the shoes that end up in the entryways of your home? Shoes need a convenient home that will make it easy for family members to store them. Your plan should include the Oak Shoe Cubby. It holds a whopping 12 pairs of shoes, and has a slim design so it does not take up much space. Place it in the entryway, or in the mudroom to tame shoes, and make them easy to put away and find.

How will you juggle all the schedules in your household? Plan on using the Dry Erase Monthly Calendar. This simple calendar allows you to jot down 30 days of appointments and still leave room for a phone message or a new number. I like to think of it as “Central Command.” Place it in a centrally located space in your home so that everyone in the family has access to it. This is one of those organization items that can make an immediate difference in daily organization. At the end of the month, simply wipe the board clean and start again on the next month.

Remember, having plans in place will give you greater success as you launch into this New Year with your resolution to get organized. Evaluate your needs and then put a plan in place to achieve your goals!
