Packing for Spring Break

Whether you’re packing for spring break or a weekend getaway to the local bed and breakfast, there are some simple things you can do to pack smart.

First, make a list of what you want to pack. Consider the weather, and be sure to have a little variety in the clothing you take. Also consider what you plan on doing while you’re away. Packing is easier when you plan ahead. I do laundry the week before a trip, and instead of putting all of my laundry away, I put items from my list directly into my suitcase. This helps you avoid rushing or packing the night before, which inevitably leads to stress and forgetting things.

Need to maximize every inch of space in your suitcase? Tuck paired socks inside your packed shoes. If possible, wear your bulkiest items when you travel. This will allow you to take along those cumbersome items you want without eating up valuable space in your bag.

Make sure you leave a little room to grow. We all know that when we go on vacation, we tend to buy clothing, souvenirs, etc. By leaving a little extra space in your luggage, you’ll save the hassle of paying extra money to have your purchases shipped home.

Take low maintenance clothing with you. Items that can be hand washed and hung to dry are better than clothes that have to be dry cleaned. Choose items that are versatile enough to be made into multiple outfits, from casual to dressy. Again, this will give you a vacation wardrobe that has variety, without taking up unnecessary space in your bags.

Pack up some of these great tips before your spring break begins, and you’ll have happy and organized travels!
