June - Garage Tips!
The arrival of summer means that families will spend more time outdoors playing sports, gardening and working on home improvement projects. Make summer activities more enjoyable by getting the garage organized with these ten simple tips!
- First, schedule ample time to organize the garage. Ideally, plan the project on a weekend to allow enough time to fully complete it.
- Get the family involved. Make it a fun weekend project. If they’re included in the process, they’ll be more likely to maintain your newly organized garage space all summer long!
- Get systems in place. freedomRail storage is super easy to install and adjust and holds 50% more weight than other storage systems. Plus, freedomRail garage is 25% off in June! Combine freedomRail cabinets, cubbies, shelves and work surfaces to create a garage custom to your needs.
- Always store with safety in mind. Heavy items should be kept near the floor. You don’t want to reach for them on tall shelves and risk getting hurt by a falling box or hefty tool set.
- Use cabinets or dedicate a separate shelf to store household chemicals such as paint, paint thinners, oils and lubricants, fertilizers and other flammable and poisonous materials. Secure them in tall plastic storage bins to keep them from tumbling over.
- Think vertically. If your ceilings are tall, put this space to good use. Install hooks to store bicycles or lawn maintenance gear up high.
- A freedomRail Activity Grid with hooks is great for organizing carpentry or gardening tools. Plus, grids are customizable and easy to adjust as your storage needs change.
- A small workbench with cabinets placed against a wall will do double duty by providing a work surface and additional storage. Be sure to place it near the power supply for power tools or to recharge batteries.
- Label items that are not clearly marked. Keep markers and labels accessible in a small plastic storage box so it’s easy to add new labels or make changes to existing ones.
- Consider climate control and other environmental conditions when reorganizing. Temperature fluctuations can cause moisture damage and entice rodents and insects. Use airtight storage containers to protect out of season household items and décor.
Remember - all freedomRail garage is 25% off in June! Grab your measurements today and design your dream garage using our online design tool. It’s easy to use and offers hundreds of options to put you in control of garage organization this summer!
